Ekaterina Maisheva is an interdisciplinary graphic designer and writer, living in Brooklyn, NY.
Currently, she is studying graphic design at Pratt Institute with minors in The Book and Philosophy.  Her areas of interest include editorial, branding and user interface design.

AerLens Branding System

The AerLens branding system is a project developed over the course of a semester in the Branding and Messaging class. The project objective was to create a product that sells air, its branding and assets, compiled in a 30 page brand book.

Dislocated Publication

Dislocated is a publication made as a part of the Big Blue Shelter collective, a collaborative collection made with 5 other artists and designers on the topic of home and belonging. The Dislocated publication explores how places serve as vessels for building one’s perception of self and how home is a fluid place that one can find within themselves as the spatial circumstances continue to change.

Garamond Typeface Case Study

This project is an in-depth study of the Garamond typeface, created for the Typography & Information Design class. The final deliverable created is a folded brochure using a complex grid system and a corresponding poster.

The Aesthetic Study of Dollar Stores

This project combines printed matter created over a single semester in the Graphic Design Intensive class on the assigned topic of dollar stores. The objective was to do in-depth research into dollar stores and their function, products, audience and visual identity. The case study is compiled of a brochure and a publication, with self-directed content related to the theme.

Nothing to Lose but the Chains Publication

Nothing to Lose but the Chains is a letterpress & polymer plate printed publication about the instability of the modern world. Combining found images with written text the aim was to create something that aesthetically reflects a late stage capitalist reality.

Fictional Currency System

The fictional currency system was created for a Process and Production class, with the main goal of creating at least three bill denominations with a coherent and credible visual system for an existing entity world. The currency has all of the elements associated with a traditional system, including watermarks, logos, notable people, and fraud resistant patterns.

Phantom Limbs Installation  

The project aims to create a visually complex installation with at least three different types of media that occupies a three dimensional space. The work deals with the complexities of immigration and its impact on one's perception of their identity.
